Have you ever wondered what vehicle wrap installers have to do in order to successfully transform a car into a mobile advertising powerhouse? Sure, you know a vehicle wrap can garner thousands of impressions and build-up your brand’s awareness. But how does your car go from factory standard to mind-blowingly brand-centric? Well, the professional vehicle wrap installers here at Green Light Graphics have broken down the process for you. We’re giving you a peek behind the curtain, so you know what all goes into the creation of a successful wrap design, and why it might take a little more time and effort than more traditional signage.

Vehicle Wrap Installers Create the Digital Design

Vehicle wrap installers create the car wrap designs on the computer, at a fraction of the size and scale of the actual car. The reason has to do with the size of the digital files; they’re huge. This makes sense when you put it in context, though. Think about the size of a file for, say, a flyer. It’s a single page of design graphics, and it’s still several MBs in size. Now think of the size of a car. If we stayed at a 1:1 design ratio, the size would become impossible to manage.

The Customer Approves the Artwork

Once the design has been created and reviewed, we’ll ask you for final approval. There may be a couple of rounds to fine tune the initial design prior to approval; this is normal. We want to make sure we get everything right, and ensure your satisfaction with the finished product. You’ll receive files and mockups of the car from a variety of angles, so you know exactly what it will look like in the end. And we’ll take you through the production proofing process, where you will get a chance to review the actual size, printed colors, finishes and so forth.

The Approved Design is Printed

After we have your approval, we go to print. Our vehicle wrap installers use a heat-sensitive, adhesive backed vinyl, and print it out in rolls. This is because it’s almost impossible to print an entire car’s graphic in a single piece. Plus, given the various configurations and body styles of different cars, the ability to apply it in sections ensures a perfect application every time.

Pre-Installation Cleaning

You will need to have the car exterior as clean as possible. We recommend a non-waxing car wash to ensure the surface is free from dust and dirt. If the car isn’t clean, the vinyl won’t adhere well, and may appear bumpy. Wash it 24 hours in advance, then leave it indoors, and it should be dry and ready for application the following day.

Installation of Wrap by Vehicle Wrap Installers

When our vehicle wrap installers arrive, they will prep the vehicle by wiping it down. This should remove any small particulates or residual soap from the car’s surface. Typically, installation takes seven to nine hours, although larger vehicles can take longer. The installation should be completed indoors, if possible. If you don’t have a suitable location, we can apply it here at our local installation facility.

Customer Drives Off in Style!

Once completed, you can drive your car immediately. Get ready to cause whiplash from all those turning heads. Call Green Light Graphics and Signs at 404-857-5790 to get a quote for your next vehicle wrap install.

Custom Graphic Designs
Let’s face it, when it comes to full vehicle wraps, it’s go big or go home. These wraps are becoming the way to go when it comes to sending out a business message loud and clear via your car, truck or van. A vehicle wrap is basically a large vinyl graphic or decal that is applied right over your vehicle’s original paint. If you’re considering a full vehicle wrap, you likely have some curiosity about the process itself. Check out these common questions about full vehicle wrap application and the answers you may be seeking:

What is involved in this kind of vehicle wrap process?

Cars, trucks, vans, buses—regardless of what the vehicle is—the process is pretty much the same. It consists of you first figuring out what design and look you want. Then your vehicle of choice will be measured to get an accurate area of application as well as accurate size of design to be applied. The design will then be printed according to those measurements and then laminated to protect your wrap graphics from scratches, scrapes, and scuffs, as well as from UV rays that can cause potential fading over time. Then, your vehicle wrap graphic is applied to your vehicle.

How are full vehicle wraps adhered to the vehicle?

Your wrap is applied to your vehicle by carefully laying it out over the surface; masking tape is commonly used to keep the wrap in place as it is applied. Professionals use temperature-controlled heat  to get the wrap to conform and stick to your vehicle. As with any laminate compound like those commonly found in vinyl, the heat is what brings on the stick. In most cases we apply vehicle wraps indoors so we can control the temperature and debris brought on by winds. We use special tools to keep the wrap smooth, minimize air bubbles, and remove access vinyl.

Will a vehicle wrap affect my paint?

If done by the right professionals, absolutely not. Full vehicle wraps do not stick to rust, the only thing that may happen is already chipping paint may come off upon removal.

How long will my vehicle wrap stay on?

Generally, you can expect a well cared for wrap to stay on around five years.

How should I prepare my vehicle for wrap installation?

When it comes to pre-wrap preparation for full vehicle wraps, cleanliness is next to godliness. Be sure to wash it carefully to remove all dirt, oil, mud, wax, and other materials, natural or otherwise, before wrap installation.

How long will it take to wrap my vehicle?

We can apply a full vehicle wrap in as little as one to two days depending on your vehicle size and shape. Are you ready to spread your business’ message to the community with a full vehicle wrap? If so, we’ve got you covered—both figuratively and literally. Call 404-857-5790 to contact the friendly professionals at Greenlight Graphics and Signs to get a quote for your full vehicle wraps.

Advertising Car Wraps
As a business owner you may not spend a lot of time considering vehicle wrap advertising.  However, typically one of the top things on a business owner’s mind is advertising in general. Wondering the most effective and cost effective way to reach your prospects? Sure, there may be different advertising options that can bring in the customers, but we believe few are as effective as vehicle wrap advertising. There are many levels to this kind of advertising—from turning your vehicle into movable, eye-catching advertising canvas to a marketing expense come tax season to a cha-ching moment with your marketing budget. As you consider a vehicle wrap as compared to other more traditional advertising methods like billboards or newspaper advertisements, it might help to crunch a few numbers.

Comparing Vehicle Wrap Advertising & Other Forms of Advertising

Billboards:  They are expensive. You’ll need first to rent the space, and then pay more for the advertising. Advertising vehicle wraps are significantly lower in cost with zero renting expense. • Newspapers and Magazines:  You have one shot to catch attention before the page is turned. Then, you have no way of knowing for sure your message has truly been delivered.  Most paper ads only run for a few weeks at a time. The average time expected for a vehicle wrap to last is five years; that’s a pretty serious long-term bonus for your marketing budget. • Company Vehicle: It’s not going to take much to add the advertising wrap into your car payment/insurance budget. In fact, it will likely be less than $100, which should be easy to come up with considering all the money saved in not throwing your money at a billboard or a newspaper/magazine. A one-time investment will also last a minimum of five years. • Company Vehicle: You can make your budget stretch further than ever. If you’ve never priced an advertising vehicle wrap, you’ll be pleased to see that you could probably get MULTIPLE vehicles wrapped with what you are spending on your other methods of advertising like billboards and paper ads.

Ideas for Maximizing Vehicle Wraps in Advertising

• Do you own a business that deals with pets? Consider what it would do for your business if you brought your vehicle to pet parades, dog parks, or events pertaining to pets or animals. • Do you own a business that deals with the home? What would parking your vehicle at the local home improvement store do? Or perhaps taking it to the next home improvement tradeshow? The ideas and opportunities are endless. Anywhere you drive around town, you will be promoting your brand with a vehicle advertising wrap. In a nutshell, the question isn’t really “Why are vehicle advertising wraps better?” but rather “Why aren’t I already using one?” If you’re ready to take your advertising to the next level in a budget-friendly way, call Green Light Graphics and Signs at 404-857-5790 to get a quote for your next vehicle wrap advertising.

When done right, vehicle body wraps can last a long, long time. In fact, it’s not unheard of for a wrap to last several years. And while they are one of the most cost-effective forms advertising available to a small business today, they still represent a sizable investment. So here are a few tips on how to protect it.

Expert Installation

While it’s important to select a reputable design house to create a stunning vehicle body wraps concept, you’ll want to make sure they also have solid installation expertise. This includes factors like seam assessment, pre-cleaning the vehicle’s exterior and selecting materials capable of withstanding the local elements. While the design, materials, and installation all play a major role in the longevity of your vehicle body wraps, another key factor is how you treat the vehicle once it leaves the store. Here are a few things to look out for.

1. Air Bubbles

This usually occurs right after installation, and can happen for a wide variety of reasons. While you might be tempted to “pop” the bubble, or smooth it out manually, DON’T. When you apply pressure or poke holes, you compromise the integrity of the wrap and, potentially, the graphic. It can lead to splits, wrinkles, and even peeling. Instead, opt to return to the sign place and ask for them to fix it.

2. Lifting and Peeling

The separation between the graphic and the vehicle is most likely to occur along seams, wheel wells and door jams. If not caught immediately, dust, dirt and other debris can get caught underneath the graphic, damaging both it and your vehicle.

3. Cleaning Your Wrap

Ideally, you’ll want to hand wash your graphic as much as possible. If your wrap is caked with mud, dirt, or other debris, be sure to rinse it off before you begin the wash. And it’s always best to use a delicate sponge or soft towel to avoid scraping the graphic or dulling its finish. Also, avoid pressure washing at all costs. It can pull the entire sections of the wrap off your vehicle in just a few seconds.

4. Vehicle Storage

Garage storage is always going to be your best bet when it comes to protecting your investment from the elements. Sun damage, dust storms, and hail are severe weather incidents that can shorten the life of your wrap. Plus, sun exposure will cause your horizontal surfaces to fade much faster than the verticals, leaving you with a compromised graphic and poor brand image.
